Labcorp Histotechnologist - 2nd Shift in Town of Shelton, Connecticut

The work schedule for this position will be Tuesday -- Saturday, 2:00pm- 10:30pm


  • This position will perform histology duties (i.e. grossing, IHC)

  • Operates the following equipment: slide stainers, cover slipper, cassette labeler, embedding center, tissue processors microscopes and other miscellaneous equipment assigned to the histology laboratory.

  • Prepare slides for pathologist and external clients for interpretation

  • Perform tissue embedding

  • Perform routine H&E stains, IHC and special stains

  • Prepare and discard reagents per lab guidelines

  • Perform grossing of tissue specimens

  • Tissue control management

  • Perform Quality control as outline in SOPs and policies and maintain documentation.

  • Operate and maintain histology equipment not limited to tissue processors, embedding instruments and automated staining platform

  • Research troubleshoot and resolve inquiries or problems within the laboratory follow all technical standard operating procedures.


  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or a related science

  • Minimum 1 years of clinical laboratory experience

  • ASCP certification is preferred

  • IHC experience preferred

  • Demonstrated success in clinical testing technical proficiency and scientific knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of specific laboratory and/or department functions

  • Ability to exercise judgement to determine methods and procedures on new assignments

  • Proficient with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems

  • High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
