Laboratory Corporation of America Project Specialist in Santa Fe, New Mexico

The Integrated Genetics division of Labcorp is seeking a Project Specialist to join their team in Santa Fe, NM. This is an exciting opportunity to provide support to the Genetic Counseling/Genetic Services team in various areas including: accessioning, client services, send outs, and reporting.

The schedule for this position will be Tuesday -- Saturday, 8am -- 5pm.


  • Support the functions of the Genetic Services department in managing Special Studies, which are cases requiring additional case management beyond routine tests done on site. This includes supporting the Genetic Coordinators (GCs) in Accessioning, Client Services, Send Outs and Reporting duties

  • Accessioning

  • Assist with review of TRFs

  • Data entry in the laboratory information system (LIS)

  • Monitor InSight results and sending direct samples depending on results

  • Client Services

  • Contact clients for missing information or to clarify orders

  • Alert clients of delays

  • Triage calls from clients in the GC queue

  • Send Outs

  • Assist with preparing paperwork for samples being sent to reference labs

  • Notify reference lab to expect the sample

  • Reporting

  • Assist with contacting clients to confirm receipt of reference lab results

  • Assist with managing WIP lists

  • Document case work and interactions with clients in the LIS system

  • Participate and contribute to weekly departmental meetings

  • Work with team members in the department and with staff in other departments to ensure that cases are managed accurately and in a timely manner


  • BA or BS degree in a Biological Science

  • 3+ years experience in Cytogenetics, preferably prenatal

  • ASCP certification preferred

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to listen and respond effectively

  • Strong customer service focus

  • Flexibility and the ability to manage and adapt to changing priorities quickly

  • Strong project management skills
