Sequenom, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings (LabCorp), is a CAP accredited and CLIA-certified molecular diagnostics laboratory, dedicated to the development and commercialization of laboratory-developed tests (LDTs) for prenatal conditions, cancer, and other diseases.

Sequenom has an exciting opportunity for a Billing Associate for the Patience Assistance/Customer Service team. This position will be responsible for providing assistance to patients and clients regarding billing and insurance questions over the phone. This position will be required to work in a high call volume environment, averaging over 75 calls per day.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance over the phone to prospective clients and patients, regarding any questions or inquires related to billing and insurance coverage

  • Explain patients' financial responsibilities to them when statements are received

  • Speak with patients in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner using protocol procedures

  • Receive and process credit card payments over the phone

  • Document each call clearly in the billing system (Xifin) when patients call in regarding their accounts.

  • Update and maintain records in the billing system, including the review of accounts, payment collections and case notes

  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines / regulations

  • Assist with other duties as assigned

Requirements

Requirements:

  • High school diploma required. Associates or Bachelors' degree highly preferred

*2 years' experience in a Medical Billing environment required

*Experience in a diagnostics laboratory highly desired

*Knowledge of professional medical billing and collection practices required

  • Medical ProFee Billing and CPC coding preferred

*Knowledge of CPT and ICD9 codes

*Computer proficiency -- MS Windows, MS Office, and database experience

*Experience with Laboratory Billing and Laboratory Information System (LIS) desired

  • Experience with government billing preferred

*Ability to review large amounts of data for accuracy

*Must be organized and detail-oriented

*Ability to work the following schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm
