Sequenom/LabCorp is seeking a Business Systems Analyst for it's San Diego, CA location. The Business Systems Analyst will work with business representatives to define IT solutions that support Corporate goals and increase overall organizational performance with regard to laboratory information systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in laboratory processes and an understanding of a wide range of business processes in order to understand requirements and define ways that IT can provide solutions that meet business needs.


  • Work with business leads to identify, define and document business processes, system requirements and/or enhancements, and reporting needs while working with laboratory IT operations and development teams to define solutions that effectively meet these needs. Identify solutions that allow the company to maintain a competitive edge in the marketplace and adapt to organizational growth, based on needs identified by the business

  • Communicate effectively with business stakeholders, management, and IT to set realistic expectations for delivery of solutions. Contribute to development of IT roadmap based on knowledge of business requirements

  • Build lasting relationships within the business and take an active role on priority projects to ensure deliverable success Serve as business advocate on development and test teams to ensure business requirements are met by the solution

  • Work with multiple systems and business processes simultaneously and have an ability to prioritize cross-functional tasking

  • Manage organizational change associated with the adoption of new solutions for affected departments and business processes

  • Take accountability for defining the scope, objectives and solution definition for multiple projects across various functional areas

  • Chair meetings, deliver presentations, and manage enterprise level documentation



  • Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology or related field required

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a business analyst

  • Previous experience working in a clinical laboratory preferred

  • Experience with Agile software development (Scrum) and application lifecycle management

  • Strong business requirements management, business architecture and process modeling experience, and experience working with methodologies and tools related to business analysis

  • Ability to consult and manage internal customer relationships and expectations

  • Be knowledgeable and current on industry trends related to areas such as business intelligence, mobile computing, visualization, and data management

  • Subject matter expertise in defining IT solutions that meets business needs

  • Maintains awareness of business process and technology solution best practices

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills
