Laboratory Corporation of America Molecular Oncology Technologist Trainee in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina
The Integrated Oncology division of LabCorp is seeking a Technologist to join their Molecular Oncology team! Assays performed in the Molecular Oncology Department utilize a variety of scientific techniques, including PCR, fragment analysis, sequence analysis, and gel electrophoresis.
Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
Perform PCR based molecular oncology testing in accordance with standard operating procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of various types of cancer.
Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
Utilize a wide array of instrumentation, including Tecan, ABI 3130/3730, and ABI 7900 instruments, performing quality control and calibrations, as required.
Accurately enter results of testing. Review reports to ensure accurate test result reporting in preparation for review by a Director / Pathologist.
Recognize problems and initiate troubleshooting steps to evaluate testing failures and other problems.
Additional duties assigned.
- B.A./B.S. in Biology or relatable life science to include completion of 16 credit hours of Biology, 16 credit hours of Chemistry, and 3 credit hours of math required.
1 year of clinical OR research lab experience.
2nd Shift Sunday-Thursday 3:00pm-11:30pm
