Laboratory Corporation of America Lab Manager - ToxAssure (1st shift) in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina
The Occupational Testing Services division is seeking a Lab Manager to join their ToxAssure team!
The manager is familiar with all areas within their responsibility and understand how their responsibilities relate to the operation of the ToxAssure laboratory. They have training and experience in the theory and practice of methods and procedures used in the laboratory. The manager ensures that staff members possess the necessary skills, training, and competency to conduct the work of the section. Periodically evaluates staff, reviews work performance, and ensures all LabCorp and section SOPs are followed. They manage and oversee handling and if necessary preparation of QC material for analysis and validations, reagents, calibration of pipets and thermometers. They initiate and implement all adjustments and remedial actions necessary to maintain satisfactory operation and performance of the laboratory. They verify and monitor acceptable analytical performance for all controls and calibrators and document the validity, reliability, accuracy, precision, and performance characteristics of each test and test system. Responsibilities for this position include the following:
Assign, oversee and review the work of employees.
Provide training, guidance and direction to the staff.
Assist in developing and implementing laboratory procedures.
Troubleshoot equipment (LCMSMS, Hamilton/auto pipetting devices for example) and analytical problems; determine proper remedial action to be taken in response to test systems being out of control limits.
Ensure that preventative maintenance schedules are adhered to.
Assist in planning for adequate personnel and equipment.
Perform all administrative personnel functions in the department such as performance evaluation and payroll processing.
Understand QC practices and procedures.
Understand analytical procedures, applicable sections of regulatory guidelines and functions of the LIMS.
Perform testing as required.
Perform other duties as required to meet departmental and company goals.
Adhere to all applicable regulations and guidance (CLIA, CAP, FDA) for testing of patient specimens.
Engage with technical staff on the interpretation of clinical toxicology data.
License/Certification/Education: Requires a B.S./B.A. Degree w/3-5 year's experience and must meet CLIA requirements.
