Cytogenetics Technologist Trainee / Technologist - Microarray Group

The Integrated Genetics Division is seeking a Cytogenetics Technologist or Technologist Trainee to join their Cytogenetics team in the Microarray Group! Assays performed in the Cytogenetics Department utilize a variety of scientific techniques, including specimen culturing, PCR, fragment analysis, and gel electrophoresis.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform culture initiation and harvesting of cells from amniotic fluid, peripheral blood, CVS and POC specimens

  • PCR DNA extraction, and completion of the SNP array assay from amniotic fluid, peripheral blood, bone marrow, CVS and POC specimens

  • Review test requisitions to gather pertinent details for analysis as needed

  • Perform QA/QC duties in the lab

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on lab equipment

  • Work with wide array of instrumentation

Requirements

Requirements:

  • B.A./B.S. in Biology or relatable life science to include completion of 16 credit hours of Biology, 16 credit hours of Chemistry, and 3 credit hours of math

  • 1 year of clinical OR research lab experience preferred, but not required at Technologist Trainee level

  • 1 year of clinical experience required for Technologist level

  • PCR and gel electrophoresis experience preferred, but not required
