Laboratory Corporation of America Cytogenetic Technologist Trainee in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina
The Integrated Genetics Division is seeking a Cytogenetics Technologist Trainee to join their Cytogenetics Microarray team in Research Triangle Park, NC! This position will be responsible for performing all routine and special Cytogenetics procedures, microscopic analysis, and maintaining quality control.
The schedule for this position will be Sunday - Thursday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.
Perform culture initiation and harvesting of cells from amniotic fluid, peripheral blood, CVS and POC specimens
PCR DNA extraction, and completion of the SNP array assay from amniotic fluid, peripheral blood, bone marrow, CVS and POC specimens
Review test requisitions to gather pertinent details for analysis as needed
Perform routine preventative maintenance on lab equipment
Work with wide array of instrumentation
Perform QA/QC duties in the lab
Assists in training and orientation of trainees as required.
BS/BA in Biology or relatable life science to include completion of 16 credit hours of Biology, 16 credit hours of Chemistry, and 3 credit hours of math
Technologist Trainee positions do not require a year of experience
Cytogenetic experience 1 year of clinical OR clinical lab experience is preferred
ASCP Certification Preferred
Must complete and pass color blind test
Detail oriented and organized
Team player with a positive attitude
Willingness to work overtime as needed
