Laboratory Corporation of America Cytogenetic Technologist Trainee in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina

The Integrated Oncology Division is seeking a Cytogenetic Technologist Trainee to join their Cytogenetics team! Assays performed in the Cytogenetics Department utilize a variety of scientific techniques, including specimen culturing, slide preparation, and chromosome analysis.

  • Perform culture initiation, harvesting of cells, staining slides from peripheral blood, tissue, and bone marrow oncology specimens.

  • Analyze of chromosomes, which may include imaging and karyotyping of cytogenetic specimens.

  • Review test requisitions to gather pertinent details for analysis as needed and summarizes test results utilizing ISCN nomenclature.

  • Perform QA/QC duties in the lab.

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on lab equipment.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

  • B.A./B.S. in Biology or relatable life science to include completion of 16 credit hours of Biology, 16 credit hours of Chemistry, and 3 credit hours of math

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cytogenetic experience

  • 1 year of clinical OR research lab experience




2nd Shift 1:00PM --9:30PM Tuesday -- Saturday
