Labcorp Biochemical Genetics Technologist Trainee in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina
The Integrated Genetics Division is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join their BioChemical Genetics team in RTP, NC! The Biochemical Genetics laboratory performs a wide array of testing that falls into two different categories: maternal serum screening and diagnosis of inborn errors of metabolism.
Maternal serum screening is available to all pregnant women and testing is performed to identify pregnancies that are at a higher than usual risk for certain birth defects (including open spina bifida, Down syndrome, and Trisomy 18). Tests for inborn errors of metabolism are enzyme activity tests that are typically performed on blood, urine, or CSF from children, and sometimes adults, who have symptoms for a variety of diseases.
Assays performed in the BioChemical Genetics Department utilize a variety of scientific techniques, including fluorometry, spectrophotometry, and gel electrophoresis.
