Laboratory Corporation of America Molecular Microbiology & Infectious Disease Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLS) in Raritan, New Jersey

As a Medical Technologist, you are responsible for patient specimens from receipt in the lab, through preparation and processing, and ultimately through data analysis and result interpretation. We rely on molecular methodologies to detect the presence of infectious diseases in patient specimens, delivering fast, accurate, and reliable diagnoses to clinicians. A combination of high-tech automation and demanding manual manipulation are used, resulting in the need for multidisciplinary-capable technologists.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and cleanliness of diagnostic equipment

  • Prepare, store, and retain patient samples and testing reagents safely and efficiently

  • Deliver diagnosis to clinicians in a fast, accurate, and reliable manner

  • Utilize high-tech automated equipment to perform daily job tasks

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a large fleets of molecular biology equipment

  • Communicate with leadership on the specifics of your tasks and how they pertain to workflow

  • Troubleshoot issues and complete corrective action as needed

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree Biology, Cell or Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, a degree as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, or a closely related concentration

  • One year experience in a laboratory environment is preferred

  • Strong knowledge of molecular biology fundamentals is a must

  • Previous experience with clinical laboratory automation platforms are a plus: Genprobe Tigris DTS, Roche 4800/6800/8800, Roche Ampliprep/Taqman, Roche MagNa Pure 96, Qiagen RotorGene Q, Qiagen RCS.

  • Familiarity and comfort with robotics and high-throughput automation

  • Proven aptitude for troubleshooting

  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal

  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
