Laboratory Corporation of America Maintenance Specialist in Phoenix, Arizona

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Perform minor maintenance and diagnose problems in conjunction with outside contract vendors

  • Assist in the maintenance of building MEP systems in a large medical laboratory

  • Work with various MEP systems including air handlers, cooling towers, chillers, lower pressure boilers, humidifiers, VAV systems, air compressors, pumps, motors, exhaust fans, and refrigeration devices

  • Monitoring the Building Management System on a daily basis alerting management of any discrepancies

  • Perform daily rounds to check process gases, compressed air systems, DI Water Systems, and Lab Waste Systems

  • Read & interpret intrepid shop drawings & control schematics

  • Update excel spread sheets, generate word documents and managing daily emails.

  • Participate in annual safety training and earn required certifications for the position

  • Assist with snow removal during winter conditions along with other trades as needed

  • Travel to other sites when requested by management

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Relevant degree from a trade school is preferred

  • Prior experience in a similar HVAC position; 3 years is preferred

  • Strong working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems

  • CFR 40 Certifications and/or a Black Seal Boiler License are a plus

  • Strong computer and data entry skills

  • Excellent communication skills; both written and oral

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

  • Flexibly to travel to other locations within the region

  • Possess a valid driver's license

  • Ability to lift 50lbs and maneuver in and around machines/tables etc.

  • Able to climb ladders to access roof/ceilings and/or painting projects
