Laboratory Corporation of America Cytogenetic Technologist (1st Shift) in Phoenix, Arizona

The Integrated Oncology division at LabCorp is seeking a Cytogenetic Technologist to join our Cytogenetics lab team in Phoenix, AZ. This position performs all routine and special Cytogenetics and/or FISH procedures, microscopic analysis and maintains quality control. With minimum supervision, Cytogenetic technologist participates in trouble shooting, updating accessioning, current methods and training of junior personnel when cleared by Supervisor.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs laboratory tests and analyses according to established procedures in designated technical department.

  • Perform Cytogenetic scanning/analysis of chromosomes as needed per workflow.

  • Perform tasks in wet laboratory involoved in specimen processing and preparation for analysis in Cytogenetics and FISH.

  • Participate in weekend rotations for lab or analysis as needed.

  • Independently performs all laboratory tasks designed to diagnosis chromosomal abnoromalities from patient specimens and process lab specimens.

  • Assist in training of fellow employees

  • Perform all job duties in accordance with established standards and quality control to ensure high quality patient care.

  • Evaluates procedures and methods under direct supervision of more senior technologist, department supervisor, or group leader.

  • Assists in training and orientation of trainees as required.

  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

Requirements :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or other related biological science

  • ASCP Certification Preferred

  • 1-3 years experience in Cytogenetics/FISH highly preferred

  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced learning environment

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Team oriented

Tuesday-Saturday 8:00am-4:30pm
