Laboratory Corporation of America Team Lead - Hematology in Mishawaka, Indiana
We are seeking a Team Leader for our Hematology/Oncology locations in Mishawaka, IN. In addition to holding bench duties in Hematology and Chemistry and performing phlebotomy as needed, this position will provide leadership coverage in the absence of the supervisorfor a few different locations in Mishawaka and one site in Elkhart, IN.
This is a first shift position, and start times could vary slightly depending upon which lab site is being covered that day.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Assist the supervisor with the day to day operations of the Hematology/Oncology offices
Participate in QA meetings and provide feedback as necessary
Send daily, weekly and monthly productions reports to management
Review and sign off on daily, weekly and month Quality Control reports
Assist with the training of new hires and the development of current employees
Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs
Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
Assist with processing of specimens when needed
Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Requirements
Requirements
Associates or Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a Science related major
Minimum 4 years of experience as a Medical Technologist/Technician
ASCP and/or AMT Certifications are a plus
Phlebotomy experience required; Prior experience in Hematology strongly preferred
Prior supervisory or leadership experience is a plus
Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office
Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment
Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position

Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm; Start time could vary between 6:30am and 8:30am depending on site being worked).
