Labcorp Hospital Laboratory Director in Manassas, Virginia

The Hospital Laboratory Director is responsible for the overall operations, administration, and quality assurance programs of several departments within designated areas, in accordance with state and federal standards and administrative policies of laboratories. The person identified will be responsible for recommending changes for the laboratory to improve performance and/or correct any deficiencies as needed.

Responsibilities :

  • Provide overall direction and serve as a technical advisor to assigned clinical laboratories

  • Ability to relate professionally with all personal, poses strong analytical abilities, and motivate others

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations

  • Evaluate competency programs for new and existing staff to ensure compliance with regulatory standards

  • Implement initiatives to increase employee engagement and retention, while identifying and developing future leaders

  • Oversee regulatory and accreditation requirements to ensure departmental technical, quality, and administrative activities are compliant with all regulatory requirements

  • Maintain the required staffing levels to meet performance targets and ensure staff is properly trained

  • Knowledgeable of hazardous waste characteristics, hazardous waste volume generation limits, accumulation limits, spill control measures, record keeping, proper handling and container management, labeling and container & storage inspection


  • Medical Technologist (ASCP) or equivalent certification required

  • Baccalaureate degree from a NAACLS accredited program is required

  • MBA, MHA or similar advanced degree preferred

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in related field

  • Must meet CLIA requirements

  • Ability to manage a team as well as build relationships with all necessary parties

  • Strong leadership, development, organizational and time management skills

  • Excellent communication skills; both written and oral

  • Able to pass standardized color vision test, as required by test performed

  • Must have a Valid Driver's License

  • Proficient in MS Office
