Labcorp Pathology Support Lab Assistant in Los Angeles, California
Monitor and manage work queues including internal slide requests, case prioritization, and issue resolution for pathologists.
Complete cases by locating and collating slides as needed and separating client materials from in-house materials.
Coordinate consults and send outs including:
o Organizing slides/materials & paperwork
o Tracking material return & printing corresponding report for pathologist review
o Recordkeeping of applicable external consult cases for correlative review
Forward specimen slides to designated laboratory location(s) as requested by Dianon pathologists and/or clients.
Investigate case delays, resolve problems and implement corrective action in collaboration with department leadership.
Facilitate slide requests from external facilities per client request.

o CT -- Days in-house report management
o OK -- Obtain, assign and route cases from the labs to the pathologists; manage case volume by pathologist; monitor work list queue and review specimen alerts in order to assign cases by priority
o CA and OK -- Organize and file slides
o CA -- Match up H&E sides with corresponding add-on/special stain slides
Responsible for the knowledge and practice of applicable safety policies and procedures in the laboratory.
Complete all required EHS training.
Must wear proper PPE when in laboratory areas.
Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
Comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, and the requirements of accrediting organizations.
High school diploma or equivalent, with 1-2 years of applicable experience with a medical and/or laboratory background preferred.
Knowledge of some ICD-10 coding and billing procedures preferred.
Ability to work with computer programs including Microsoft Office programs.
Show proficiency with numbers and written/verbal communications; adept at computer keyboarding.
