Laboratory Corporation of America Grossing Technician in Los Angeles, California

LabCorp is seeking a Laboratory Grossing Technician to work in Los Angeles, California. This position works under general/indirect supervision.


  • Performs technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides, specializing in the accurate gross description and dissection of surgical specimens.

  • Diagrams pertinent gross specimens as necessary.

  • Prepare sections of human tissue for pathologist diagnostic study.

  • Operate a cassette labeler, grossing of human biopsy specimens, tissue processor operation, embedding of tissue specimens, operation of automated stainer and cover-slippers,

  • Perform equipment maintenance.

  • Record equipment log data.

  • Print and collate case worksheets, filing slides, jars, and paperwork, organizing waste and inventory.

  • Distribute cases to pathologists for diagnosis.

  • Answer telephones, maintain logs/records, research information, train employees, and use computerized databases.

  • Provide proper identification of known hazardous materials in the workplace, knowledge of personal protection measures, avoidance of accidents, knowledge of hazardous waste characteristics, hazardous waste volume generation limits, spill control measures, record keeping, proper handling and container management, labeling, container and storage inspection.

  • Must comply with applicable safety procedures.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in biology or related physical/chemical/medical science.

  • Vision Requirements: Far acuity - ability to see clearly at 20 feet or more; near acuity - ability to see clearly 20 inches or less; depth perception - ability to judge distance and space relationships; color vision - ability to distinguish and identify different colors.

  • Proven proficiency with numbers.

  • Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.

  • Utilization of fingers and hands, standing for extended periods, sitting for extended periods, holding, grasping.
