Laboratory Corporation of America Data Entry Specialist/Specimen Accessioner in Los Angeles, California

LabCorp is seeking a Specimen Accessioner to join their team in Los Angeles, California! This position will be responsible for receiving, and processing biopsy samples so they are ready for our histology lab to process. The position will be heavily focused on performing data entry as well as opening specimen shipments, and performing specimen triage.

Responsibilities:

  • Presort, scan, track and routeof biopsy samples to the histology laboratory.

  • Receive biopsy samples in formalin. Accession the jars by taking a label and putting it on the jar and the requisition. Verify that the information on the jar and requisition match. Perform data entry including patient demographics, biopsy site and clinical information. File and scan requisitions for billing.

  • Assign specific computer generated identification numbers, check for identification accuracy, record all items processed and accurately entering data into the Laboratory Information System.

  • Adhere to quality control guidelines to ensure integrity of laboratory specimens.

  • Maintain familiarity with standard operating procedures.

  • Monitor and maintaining consumable inventory.

  • Scan test requisitions and attached paperwork into the imaging software for long term storage.

  • Comply with EHS standards and policies when working with samples received in formalin and discarding of Biohazard materials.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • High volume data entry expereince.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment and maintain quality standards determined by the clinical laboratory.

  • Attention to detail and critical thinking skills.

  • Oral and written communication skills.
