Performs technical duties related to production of histolopathological slides. Specifically:

  • Embeds human tissue

  • Performs routine and special microtomy procedures

  • Perform routine and special stains

  • Prepares and discard reagents and material per lab guidelines

  • Operate and maintain tissue porcessors, embedding instruments and automated staining instruments

  • Perform preventive maintenance on all histological instruments

  • Maintain logs, QC routine and special statines

  • Follow all technical standard operating proceures

  • Researches, troubleshoots, and resolves histology related inquiries and problems within the laboratory and for LabCorp-s clients.

  • Perform additonal job functions reqired and requested by lab supervisor/manager/director

Requirements

  • Normally requires a Bachelor's Degree

  • 1-3 years of experience in Histology and meet all licenses necessary for Histology

  • or Associates Degree with 5+ years experience.

  • strong attention to detail

  • ability to work independently-self starter

  • ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment

  • proficient with computers

Schedule

Monday through Friday 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM with a rotating Saturday (5:00 AM - 1:30 PM) every month and on call once every 6 weeks
