Labcorp Senior Laboratory Technologist in Itasca, Illinois

Litholink (part of LabCorp's Specialty Testing Group) is seeking a Senior Laboratory Technologist to join their team in Itasca, IL! Litholink is a leader and innovator in kidney stone prevention by working directly with patients and many of the country's leading urologists and academic medical centers.

The Senior Technologist will be responsible for performing lab techniques in the kidney stone laboratory, as well as reporting accurate and timely test results. This position will perform testing and support other areas in the lab as needed. We are looking for an energetic, detail-oriented lab professional who can handle a fast-paced lab with a relaxed atmosphere. Previous clinical laboratory experience is required for the Senior level.

The 4/10 schedule for this position will be:

Wednesday and Thursday: 10:30am -- 9pm

Friday: 7am-5:30pm

Saturday: 7am-5:30pm


  • Perform routine lab techniques in the kidney stone laboratory

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria

  • Prepare urine and plasma samples and load on instruments

  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality

  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving

  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care

  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures

  • Perform troubleshooting and daily instrument maintenance

  • Assist with the training and orientation of new employees as needed

  • Maintain complete documentation for all processes as outlined in SOPs

  • Meet department activity and production goals

  • Multitasking, pipetting and technical skills and time management are all keys to success in the clinical lab department


  • BS or BA degree in Biology, Chemistry or similar related life science field

  • Minimum 6 years of experience working in a clinical diagnostics laboratory, at the Technologist level OR

  • Master's degree with a minimum of 4 years experience working in a clinical diagnostics laboratory at the Technologist level

  • Experience must be in a clinical laboratory setting

  • Good organization skills with strong trouble shooting capabilities

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • ASCP certification a plus
