Phlebotomy Supervisor - Houston, TX LabCorp of America is seeking a Supervisor to oversee the Phlebotomy department in the Medical Center/Meyerland/Downtown Houston areas. The employees consist of phlebotomists or patient service technicians.
The functions of the Supervisor position will include, but will not be limited to the following:
Oversight of approximately 30-35 patient service technicians.
Approves and enters payroll and vacation time off requests in a timely manner for staff.
Responsible for interviewing, selecting and training new hires.
Oversight of the operations of Patient Service Centers according to established policies and procedures. Monitors wait times, ensures patient satisfaction, at both Patient Service Centers and In-Office Phlebotomists, and partners with sales and management to ensure client satisfaction.
Completes routine evaluations and reviews them with direct reports in a timely manner. Will ensure staff follows all policies and will follow corrective action when necessary.
Ability to relate professionally with employees and clients, motivate others, and demonstrate leadership and courage.
Bachelor's Degree preferred
2-5 years of Team Lead, Site Coordinator or Supervisor experience in a related field with phlebotomy experience.
Requires a Valid Driver's License along with a clean driving record.
Must exhibit strong customer skills demonstrating a patient-centric approach.
Must exhibit professional appearance and behavior.
Exhibit proficiency in all of the following: blood collection by venipuncture and capillary technique from patients of all age groups, urine drug screen collections, paternity collections, breath/saliva alcohol testing, pediatric blood collections, difficult draws (patients in long-term care, drug rehabilitation, prisons, psychiatric or similar facilities).
Must exhibit proficiency in data order entry and processing of samples.
Must be skilled and proficient in both verbal and written communication techniques, leadership strategies and computer skills.
Must have a comprehensive understanding of compliance and safety.
Possess the ability and skills necessary to perform other duties as required by manager/director (training, travel, etc).
Physical Demands: Speech clarity, utilization of fingers and hands, standing-remaining on one's feet in an upright position, sitting-remaining in the normal seated position, handling-seizing, holding, grasping. Working Conditions: Possible exposure to infection from disease-bearing specimens; regularly exposed to the risk of blood-borne diseases; must comply with applicable safety procedures.
Vision Requirements: Far acuity-ability to see clearly at 20 feet or more; near acuity-ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less; depth perception-ability to judge distance and space relationships; color vision-ability to distinguish and identify different colors. Must be able to pass a color blind test.
Monday through Friday, shift 1 hours vary and on call
