Laboratory Corporation of America Senior IT Technical Specialist - Linux in Durham, North Carolina
The IT Technical specialist will be responsible for delivering and maintaining a dynamic environment that will supports the Linux High Performance compute environment for LabCorp. This includes working with leadership to researching potential solutions in an evolving area. This position requires an extremely passionate, technical savvy individuals with the ability to develop and implement solutions to meet business challenges at a very high pace. In addition, this role will work with other Infrastructure, Operation & Services (IO&S) key leaders to proactively define, plan and implement business systems continuance and disaster recovery plans to restore service as necessary. Other duties include responsibility for delivering and maintaining enterprise wide effectiveness and efficiency of the Linux environment and internal/external Cloud and Containerization technology environments at all Data Centers and other remote locations as applicable while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction are maintained. This position will report directly to the IT manager over the UNIX / Linux environments.
Senior level experience Primarily with Red Hat and Oracle Linux
Ability to Recommend, design, develop, and implement software and hardware solutions
Provide Operating System technical and break/fix level support
Shell scripting (bash, Perl, python, etc.) and automation skills (Ansible preferred)
Familiarity with various Server models and management Consoles.
Experience in Linux administration on both physical and virtualized environments
Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to a constantly changing environment
Ability to debug and troubleshoot network, performance and software issues
Knowledge of SAN based disk solutions and their configurations
Ability to work independently but also must be strong in team partnership
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organization skills
Project management skills a plus
Requirements
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline or equivalent educational and/or work experience
10+ years of related systems engineering experience
Minimum 7-10 years of Unix -- Linux OS experience
UNIX / Linux Shell scripting experience
Strong team player with a high degree of self-motivation
Professional communication / presentation skills for management briefings
Preferred Certifications:
Red Hat / Linux Certifications
Ansible / AWS / Docker
Previous experience working in a large environment
