Laboratory Corporation of America Senior IT Technical Specialist - Linux in Durham, North Carolina
Leads and/or participates in the design, development, and implementation of complex system engineering activities involving cross-functional technical support, systems programming and data center capabilities. Responsible for components of highly complex engineering and/or analytical tasks and activities. Viewed as a technology subject matter expert; able to provide and communicate complex technology solutions across differing audiences including technical, managerial, business executives, and/or vendors. Information Technology degree and/or technology certifications preferred or substantial equivalent experience. Typically, 10+ years of IT experience
Senior level experience Primarily with Red Hat and Oracle Linux
Ability to Recommend, design, develop, and implement software and hardware solutions
Provide Operating System technical and break/fix level support
Shell scripting (bash, Perl, python, etc.) and automation skills (Ansible preferred)
Familiarity with various Server models and management Consoles.
Experience in Linux administration on both physical and virtualized environments
Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to a constantly changing environment
Ability to debug and troubleshoot network, performance and software issues
Knowledge of SAN based disk solutions and their configurations
Ability to work independently but also must be strong in team partnership
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organization skills
Project management skills a plus
Requirements
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline or equivalent educational and/or work experience
10+ years of related systems engineering experience
Minimum 7-10 years of Unix -- Linux OS experience
UNIX / Linux Shell scripting experience
Strong team player with a high degree of self-motivation
Professional communication / presentation skills for management briefings
Preferred Certifications:
Red Hat / Linux Certifications
Ansible / AWS / Docker
Previous experience working in a large environment

Schedule
Employee normal work days: Monday - Friday. Work hours (8 Hrs.): 8:00AM - 5:00PM w/ an hour for lunch. A total 40 hours a week work schedule. As an Exempt Employee he/she will perform on call duties as a member of our after hours On Call Rotation Support Team.
