Laboratory Corporation of America Specimen Processing Specialist - Dock in Dublin, Ohio

Monday-Friday, 9:00pm to 5:30am

We are seeking a Specimen Processing Specialist to work in the dock area of the Dublin laboratory.

This position will work on the dock and work a rotating coverage to prepare shipments. Rotation includes running to the local airports to load van with specimens and then returning samples back to the lab. When on the off-rotation, it will be working on the dock moving specimens. Position does include extended time on feet and repetitive lifting of up to 30 pounds, and pushing large, heavy racks full of samples.

Job duties include:

  • Working courier/dock rotation

  • Rotation includes driving to/from local airports to pick up samples and return to lab;

  • Pushing large,heavy racks full of specimens

  • Compilation of data reports at end of shift

  • Daily overtime as needed

This is a multi-discipline position with 3 primary components: specimen accessioning, sample splitting/sorting and data entry. Prepares laboratory specimens for designated departments/locations prior to laboratory analysis and testing and routes specimens by type to various staging areas. Performs all paperwork, technical and non-technical procedures required to process and submit specimens. Assigns specific computer generated identification numbers, checks for accuracy and records all items processed. Operates data entry terminals and automated data systems, follows standard sequences/coding when entering data and corrects, edits, and/or verifies data entered into automated systems. Must be able to perform eSIS audits to resolve any outstanding problems.


License/Certification/Education: Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent; 1-3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting is preferred.
