Oversees the operations and administration of several departments within a LEVEL I laboratory environment. The Lab Manager is responsible for all aspects of laboratory operations, including technical department, with some involvement with some other in other parts of the supply chain to include accessioning, referrals and specimen management. The incumbent will ensure established procedures and process are followed. The Lab Manager will serve as a liaison between clients and the laboratory, researching and responding in a timely manner. This position will also maintain readiness for inspections to include internal audits, CAP inspections and ISO 15189 surveillence. The Lab Manager will also handle the daily operations reports and meetings, and will keep Senior management apprised of any problems within this operation.
LabCorp Dallas is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and enthusiastic partner to serve as our Technical Laboratory Manager. This individual will be someone who is not afraid to face challenges, solve problems, and manage difficult situations.
Manage daily operations of a large-scale clinical reference laboratory with multiple testing departments (Chemistry, Hematology, Immunoassay, Microbiology, and Special Chemistry)
Monitor status of testing, delays, lost specimens, lab accidents, and inform senior management of issues
Interact with Sales team for client questions or concerns
Conduct daily technical supervisor meetings and oversee daily regional operations meetings
Monitor, approve, and make improvements to laboratory expenditures
Maintain accountability in technical departments for testing completion, training & competency, staffing & overtime, and supervisory responsibilities
Serve as liaison to clients, management, staff, and vendors for resolution of issues
Drive continual improvement processes across all departments
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or related discipline
5+ years of progressive supervisory/management experience in a reference laboratory
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements for clinical laboratories (CLIA, CAP)
Excellent interpersonal, people management, team building, and mentoring abilities
Ability to understand supply chain processes and the interactions between all parts of an operation
ASCP-accredited Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist
Experience working in an ISO 15189-accredited laboratory
License/Certification/Education: Requires a B.S./B.A. Degree w/3-5 years of experience and must meet CLIA requirements. Preferred requirements are: 5-10 years of experience with a degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry or Biology.
