National Genetics Institute is seeking a IT Manager for it's Charlotte, NC location. The IT Manager is responsible for providing leadership and direction in the development and support of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) application. Provide significant technical subject matter expertise on software application development and management of the technical team. In addition, will be responsible for providing quality technology solutions that address the business needs for this laboratory. The following skills and responsibilities are expected in this role:

  • Interpret business requirements and define technical alternatives, tools, and approach.

  • Develop, test, implement and document technical solutions to address defined business requirements.

  • Work with other team members to define effort estimates, time tables and project plans.

  • Participate with the development and support teams and IT staff as appropriate in the design of solutions.

  • Collaborate with other technical areas to integrate across tiers, platforms, and responsibilities.

  • Ensure that expected application performance levels are achieved.

  • Plan and conduct module and basic integration testing.

  • Manage technical aspects of application to ensure timely and effective implementations.

  • Understand and comply to Project Life Cycle Methodology in all planning steps.

  • Develop and manage project plans inclusive of resources and timelines.

  • Manage team of developers and support analysts.

NB: The person can be at Durham/ Burlington location but have to visit the facility in Charlotte on a regular basis.

Requirements

License/Certification/Education: B.S. Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology required with 7-10 years of experience.
