Healthcare experience is a big plus. You will be building data mining, research and patient recruitment tools for researchers and drug development experts with a focus on oncology and genetics. Business Systems Analyst
The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) will serve as a liaison between the subject matter expects (SME) and the development teams. The BSA will analyze and understand the data in order to obtain and transform business requirements into functional specifications that result in development of data modeling, software specifications, architectures, user interfaces, and data pipelines.
Key Responsibilities include:
Create well-written, clear, concise and accurate document artifacts including functional specifications, gap analysis documents, mapping documents and process diagrams for the purposes of data warehouse construction, report development etc.
Use SQL and other analytical tools to analyze and interpret data in existing databases to support projects and resolve data issues
Map source system data to data warehouse models
Map data elements to the end-user's application functionality and user experience
Identify and assess potential data sources. Perform gap and impact analysis.
Interview business users to gather requirements for reports, extracts, data, metadata, data quality and service levels.
Perform specifications reviews with the business, developers and QA analysts.
Take ownership and drive all assigned tasks to completion according to project plan.
Develop a deep and comprehensive understanding of our Annuity and Life business, systems and customers.
License/Certification/Education: Normally a Bachelor's Degree w/5-8 years of experience; M.A. 3-6 years.
Qualifying Requirements, in order of importance:
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written as well as exemplary organizational skills
Experience in data warehouse environment
At least 8 years of experience in IT as a Business Data Analyst.
Solid understanding of SQL, stored procedures and ad-hoc query development. Comprehensive understanding of relational databases.
Ability to write requirements to extract data from existing databases, document transformation rules based on business requirements gathered from non-technical people.
Knowledge of APIs and creating contracts for building an API.
Education / Training:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Information Systems Management or Computer Science; equivalent work experience can be substituted for a degree
Nice to have skills:
Knowledge of HL7, FHIR or other healthcare IT standards
Previous experience leading or managing teams or running scrum meetings
Monday through Friday schedule from 8am- 5:00pm EST
