LabCorp is seeking a leader to join our Chemistry lab team in Burlington, NC. The large range of assays within the department can be categorized into: General/Routine Chemistry, STD testing, Therapeutic Drug Monitoring, and Clinical Endocrinology, with the overall goal of providing results that can be used in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of illness and disease states. All of our assays are automated and our department includes some of the most advanced high-throughput analyzers available on the market. We are currently looking for someone who has or is looking to lead a knowledgeable team performing Chemistry testing.
Responsibilities:
Assign, oversee, and review the work of employees. Directs all phases of work, quality, service, and costs.
Performs tests or assays as required.
Evaluate specimens and test orders, determine priority of work to maintain acceptable turn-around-time, recognize unacceptable and unusual specimens and handle appropriately.
Perform routine and moderate to complex tests and analyses according to established procedures in designated technical department.
Perform and oversee testing on biological, quality control, and proficiency samples.
Monitor and assist staff that maintain and clean instrumentation, perform scheduled and as needed maintenance, troubleshoot as indicated.
Evaluate raw and final data for accuracy, recognize and correct errors and unusual results, interpret results to produce a final report.
Manage the movement of materials/samples that are being processed.
Have the ability to create an effective work flow with effective time management.
Communicate with staff and co-workers, verbal and written.
Perform client call backs regarding technical questions.
Respond to clients and coworkers through e-mail.
Compose and edit standard operating procedures, process documents, and forms.
Implement corrective action and effectiveness checks for protocol failures.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a Science related major
Minimum 1-3 years of experience as a Medical Technologist in a clinical laboratory
Previous supervisor experience is required
ASCP and/or AMT Certifications are a plus
Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations
Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office
Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills
Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment
Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
