Laboratory Corporation of America Jr. IT Project Manager in Burlington, North Carolina

LabCorp is seeking a Jr. Project Manager/Coordinator for it's Burlington, NC location. Reporting to the Project Management Office, the Associate IT Project Manager will be responsible for leading and completing computer-oriented projects from planning through implementation, requiring an understanding of project scope and objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member to effectively coordinate the activities of the project team. As an Associate IT Project Manager, you will be managing all aspects of project execution, performance and delivery throughout the complete project management lifecycle, coordinating activities and ensuring effective communication within project teams, tracking project schedules, reporting on progress and performing administrative duties as needed in support of projects.


  • Create, maintain and manage detailed Project Plans; clearly articulating work breakdown structures of deliverables by phase, activity and task; with role assignments and estimates to complete on each task

  • Execute and maintain project management processes in the areas of project schedule, quality management, communications management, risk/issue management, and change management.

  • Create and maintain project accounting records to accurately reflect, by month, by expenditure type and class; project spend-to-date, estimates to complete and estimates at complete; analyzing with explanation any variance between budget, plan, actuals and forecast

  • Partner with resource managers and functional owners to identify all resources required to execute your plan, negotiate and place resource requests and manage the resource plan for your projects

  • Develop and maintain project schedules and calendars with the input and assistance of project team leads. Responsible for tracking project changes and producing updated schedules

  • Facilitate team meetings, providing meeting minutes and action items where needed

  • Ensure smooth communication within the project team and other cross-functional teams. Interface with internal/external stakeholders on a regular basis

  • Facilitates project scoping, ensuring that issues are raised, necessary input is obtained and project work is outlined. Obtains scope approvals as required. Manages and obtains approval for any scope changes after initial approval.

  • Provides appropriate escalation and resolution of issues and concerns.

  • Provides regular reports and project status updates to management, stakeholders and others. Highlights successes, concerns, milestones, resolved issues and other important information.

  • Document process standards as required.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


License/Certification/Education: Normally a Bachelor's Degree in Graphics, Computer Science or Marketing w/5-7 years of experience in related field is preferred.
