In this position you will work in a fast paced, customer focused, and challenging environment.
The work schedule for this position will be Monday - Friday, 7:00am- 3:30pm
Performs all high-complexity testing in the Department of Molecular Pathology with minimal supervision. Identifies problems in department laboratory and operating systems and institutes appropriate corrective actions. Analyzes test data and quality control documents, and prepares draft reports for Molecular Pathologist Director/Supervisor to review. Actively participates in the department quality programs and adheres to policies and procedures developed for the department.
Perform complex molecular-based procedures with a high degree of quality and in accordance to established protocols
Maintain complete documentation
Alert supervisor immediately to any concerns/questions regarding sample and assay quality or integrity
Participate in the training and competency assessment of other technologists and senior technologists
Ensure that technologists adhere to SOPs when performing all tasks
Ensure that all specimens are tested and repeated in a timely and accurate manner
Mentor other technologists by demonstrating a strong work ethic, providing constructive criticism, and responding to questions
Participate in troubleshooting assay and equipment issues
Participate in verification and validation studies for process improvements, new equipment, and new technology transfer
Participate in scheduling and workflow management
Serve as point person in the supervisor's absence by directing workflow, communicating with lab directors, and reviewing assays
Take on additional projects and tasks at the request of the supervisor.
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or a related science
Minimum 6 years of clinical laboratory testing with 2 years in a clinical diagnostic laboratory
ASCP certification is preferred
TN license rquired
Demonstrated success in clinical testing technical proficiency and scientific knowledge
Advanced knowledge and understanding of specific laboratory and/or department functions
Ability to exercise judgement to determine methods and procedures on new assignments
Proficient with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems
High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
