Requirements: License/Certification/Education: Normally a B.A./B.S. in Biology and meet all licensing requirements w/1-3 years of experience. Must be licensed or qualified to become licensed in the state of New York.
Job Description: We are currently seeking experienced Cytogenetic Technologists to join our talented staff at our state-of-the-art laboratory facility. Our Technologists perform a wide variety of oncology cytogenetic testing services.

Opportunities exist for ASCP Cytogenetics certified/eligible Technologists who are interested in performing all aspects of microscope analysis, tissue culture, cell harvesting and karyotyping on a variety of tissue specimens (bone marrow, blood, tumor tissue).
An interest in or experience with Applied Imaging Cytovision systems, fluorescense-in-situ hybridization (FISH) and oncology protocol studies is welcomed.

The ideal candidate may review test requisition to gather pertinent details for analysis. You will distinguish between normal and abnormal test results, independently perform laboratory tasks designed to diagnose chromosomal abnormalities from patient specimens, and provide significant support activities such as assisting with the evaluation of new protocol or tests. This individual will summarize test results utilizing ISCN nomenclature; maintain clinical and internal documentation files, and other duties as assigned.

Demonstrated ability in the application of the requisite skills to perform the required tasks of the position. Receive detailed instructions on new routine, non-technical work, which may be closely supervised and reviewed. All lab related activities of a technical nature require review as mandated by laboratory standard operating procedures.

Basic Qualifications:
A BS Degree in a Life Science or equivalent is required, current ASCP Cytogenetics certification, NYS licensure and 2-5 years of lab experience in Cytogenetics.
Preferred Qualifications:
Industry experience preferred
