Requirements:
* MANDATORY: Current or imminent California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License (CGMBS or CLS)
* Bachelor's degree in science preferred
* Molecular diagnostic experience preferred
* NCA or ASCP board certification in Molecular Biology is a plus
Job Description:
National Genetics Institute (NGI), a subsidiary of Laboratory Corporation of America, provides advanced clinical testing services to the bio-pharmaceutical industry and medical providers utilizing sophisticated applied genetics techniques. We screen the majority of the U.S. supply of Source Plasma for various infectious agents (HIV, HCV, HBV and others) using PCR-based methods and participate in numerous clinical studies in the area of infectious disease and oncology for major bio-pharmaceutical companies.
We currently have an opportunity for a California Licensed Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientists (CGMBS) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) on our dynamic team. This would be an excellent entry-level opportunity with room for advancement, or could be a perfect opportunity for an experienced person looking to expand their knowledge of the inner workings of the fast-paced, regulated, clinical laboratory industry in hopes of eventual leadership roles. This individual would be responsible for performing pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical molecular procedures. In this position, the CGMBS or CLS would be working directly under the laboratory manager. Duties would include but not be limited to:
-Testing clinical laboratory specimens following the standard methods and procedures
-Completing routine preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on instruments and equipment
-Performing Quality Control tests on incoming shipments of raw materials
-Supporting/Performing research and development studies
-Analyzing and interpreting test results, controls and test limits to ensure suitability for result reporting
-Providing oversight of general operations in the laboratory including preventative maintenance and sample handling
